Our Mission

To help veterans dealing with trauma find a sense of purpose and live life fully by connecting them with resources, providing community engagement opportunities, and offering outdoor adventures.

Program Overview

Our program is divided into three distinct phases designed to address the multifaceted needs of veterans

  • Reverse Basic Training

Reconnecting with Resources Transitioning from military to civilian life is often challenging, especially for those coping with PTSD. In the first phase of our program, we connect veterans to vital resources, including medical and mental health services through their local Veterans Affairs (VA) office. We also work with organizations such as the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) to ensure they receive any benefits they may have been denied or overlooked. This stage serves as a comprehensive training in navigating civilian life and accessing the tools available to them—an essential foundation for long-term well-being.

  • Community Engagement

Building Purpose Through Service Once veterans express a desire to seek help, we focus on helping them rediscover a sense of purpose. This stage involves opportunities to volunteer on various community projects, such as painting orphanages or participating in beach cleanups. These initiatives provide veterans with a meaningful way to give back to society while rebuilding their self-confidence and mental resilience. The pride in completing these tasks fosters a renewed sense of accomplishment and belonging.

  • Outdoor Adventures: Creating Positive Memories

At Roll Out PTSD, we believe in the power of positive experiences to counterbalance negative memories. Our slogan, "10 to 1," represents our belief that for every bad memory, veterans need ten good ones to replace it. In this final phase, we take veterans on outdoor adventures, such as paddleboarding, hiking, and other activities that allow them to engage with nature and break free from the routine of their everyday lives. These adventures are designed to foster new habits centered around outdoor recreation and community involvement, giving veterans the tools to build lasting positive memories.

Our Impact

Since our founding, Roll Out PTSD has worked with veterans from across Puerto Rico, offering them the resources, support, and experiences they need to thrive. Our holistic approach not only addresses their mental health but also encourages community integration and the development of life-affirming habits. Veterans who have participated in our program report increased feelings of self-worth, improved mental health, and a greater sense of purpose.

Request for Support

We are seeking financial contributions and partnerships to expand our program and reach more veterans in Puerto Rico. With additional funding, we aim to:

– Increase the number of veterans we can support each year.

– Expand our network of local and national resources for veterans.

– Develop new community projects that engage veterans in meaningful work.

– Offer more outdoor adventure opportunities to create positive memories.

Your support will help us continue providing veterans with the tools, resources, and experiences they need to reclaim their lives, find a renewed sense of purpose, and live fully.
